The Ashleigh has always been a family run hotel and following on from her parents retirement in April 2019, Lucy is now running The Ashleigh.
Although rates offered online are Room Only, breakfast is available as an option if required.
Located on the East Cliff side of Bournemouth, between Bournemouth Central Railway and Coach Station and the East Cliff which is approximately 10 min. Walk. The beach is easily accessed by either the zig-zag paths or cliff lift. Bournemouth Town Centre with its shopping area and entertainment venues is also just a short walk.
In the late 19th century, The Ashleigh, then known as Moyeun, was home to the ‘Chinese Giant’, Chang Woo Gow and his family. Chang was said to be 8’1” in height and he and his wife ran a Chinese Tea Room and Curio Bazaar where he would welcome visitors who came to see him. Chang was also part of P.T Barnum’s (The Greatest Showman) ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ travelling around the USA at the height of his fame.
